The event is bringing together the volunteers and invited guests to hear about EnV activities that has included successfully managing such Summer events as Coventry Sports Week in Broadgate and the Team GB Fan Zone in addition to coordinating the I Am Team GB event that celebrated the success of the summer Games at the fantastic Ricoh Arena - and all Coventry Ambassador volunteer activities during 2016 that has included supporting over 25 events such as Coventry Car Day; RISING Global Peace Forum; Sky Ride and Remembrance Sunday Parade.

Guest speakers including the Lord Mayor of Coventry are set to recognise the ongoing contribution made by the volunteers through the Coventry Ambassador Volunteer Programme that continues to keep the London 2012 Legacy alive having volunteered at over 90 events and contributing over 30,000 volunteer hours.

During the evening, large numbers of Ambassadors will be involved in reviewing the past year activities and helping to guide plans for the volunteer programme going forwards.

David Boughey, Managing Director, EnV Said: “The development and success of EnV allows us to sustain and drive forwards the Coventry Ambassador volunteer programme that continues to be successful thanks to the dedication of the volunteers who are proud of their city and enjoy supporting local people and welcoming visitors to events across the city.

“This event allows the volunteers to come together socially, gain recognition for their valuable contribution while also ensuring they have opportunity to contribute to the future direction of the programme.”

EnV, a Finalist in the Coventry Telegraph Business of the Year Awards for their ‘Contribution to the Community’,  is on the lookout for new recruits to join their award-winning volunteer team that is one of the only remaining Host City volunteer programmes in the country following London2012. The Coventry Ambassadors scheme has previously been awarded The Queen’s Award for Volunteering and a Coventry Community Cohesion Award in 2016 so new recruits will be joining a project that has recognition of the highest order.

Councillor Linda Bigham, Cabinet Member for Community Development said that the ambassadors had carved out a great reputation for themselves. She said: “Ever since the ambassadors first welcomed visitors to Coventry for London 2012 their reputation has gone from strength to strength.

“As volunteers they play a wonderful role in putting people at ease and many, like me, look for their distinctive jackets knowing that they will receive a lovely smile and warmth as well as information.”

The Ambassadors captures the immense pride shown by local people for their home city and gives them the opportunity to showcase the very best of what their area has to offer through their amazing people skills.

Diane Hill has been a Coventry Ambassador volunteer for three years said: “In the role of an Ambassador people will come up to you because they’ll see you in your pink and purple and they ask all sorts of questions, I enjoy the role because you help people to enjoy what the city can give. Being a Coventry Ambassador is an opportunity to give something back to the community and the various events are Fascinating, Scintillating, Brilliant!”
