Free training for renewable energy businesses
Wednesday 2 November 2011
A new programme is offering training for businesses in renewable energy so that they can tap into a growing market.
The training is open to all small to medium-sized businesses, sole traders and start up businesses in Coventry and the other participating council areas. There are a limited number of free places available in renewable energy technologies such as solar photovoltaic, solar thermal, heat pumps and biomass to plumbers, heating engineers and building services companies.
Cllr Linda Bigham, Cabinet Member for City Development, said: "This training programme presents an opportunity for businesses to extend their skills base, and offers them the potential of new business within this key sector."
Coventry City Council (in partnership with Warwickshire County Council, Staffordshire, Stoke on Trent, Telford and Wrekin, Worcestershire and Shropshire) are jointly supporting the funding of this unique training programme, together with support from the European Social Fund.
A business can apply for a member of staff to attend a non-accredited or related training course including the Quality Management Systems training, and a renewable technology training session.
The programme has been tailored to support the take up and attainment of the Microgeneration Certification Scheme, enabling local businesses to benefit from the growing renewable energy market.
