City of Culture – bidding cities announced

Published Thursday, 02 March 2017

The government has today formally announced the list of cities bidding to be UK City of Culture 2021 – and everyone in Coventry is being asked to show their support for the city’s Bid.

Backing the Bid

You can show you are ‘Backing the Bid’ from 10am today by sending out your own personal messages on social media and making sure everyone is talking about Coventry’s bid. And if you’re part of a charity, group or organisation, why not show their support as well?

The Bid is a massive opportunity to put Coventry in the national spotlight and to create a lasting legacy to benefit the city for years to come. See the cities bidding for the title.

There’s so much going on around the city and the organisers behind the Bid are calling on Coventry people to start spreading the word with their own Facebook, Twitter and Instagram posts.

The aim is to get #ThisisCoventry trending.

You can create your own messages, or use ones like those below, but please remember to tag @Coventry2021 and use #ThisisCoventry.

  • The time is right and we’re backing @Coventry2021 bid to be UK City of Culture 2021 with @DCMS #ThisisCoventry
  • We are Moving, we are Reinvention, we are Underground, we are Human, WE ARE COVENTRY @DCMS @Coventry2021 #ThisisCoventry
  • Back the bid, tell @Coventry2021 and @DCMS why you think Coventry deserves to be UK City of Culture 2021 #ThisisCoventry
  • Follow @Coventry2021 to show your support as we bid to be UK City of Culture 2021 #ThisisCoventry

It’s been a busy week for the Bid, which was also featured on BBC’s Inside Out – see http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b08fs75s starting at 6.45pm.

This is an important time for the city, so please show your support and let everyone know you’re Backing the Bid!
