Coventry take part in West Midlands Mayoral election

With a turnout of just under 30 per cent, the city voted for Labour’s Sion Simon in both the first and second preference counts.

The second preference count was carried out after none of the six candidates reached more than 50 per cent in the first vote.

But the Coventry outcome did not prove to be decisive after the Conservative’s Andy Street was named the overall winner.
