Godiva Festival is pleased to confirm its rap/grime Saturday Rhythm Tent line up for 2017.
23-year-old West London grime artist, AJ Tracey, will headline the Rhythm Tent, having already picked up two MOBO nominations and a whole host of industry accolades, including being named as one to watch by MTV, Vevo, The Independent and the BBC Sound Poll.
AJ Tracey will be joined by a talented line up, featuring Kojo Funds, Not3s, Karen Harding, Romzy, Skatta and Godiva Calling winners, Freezacrowd and Leon Ashton.
The rap/grime line up will feature earlier in the day than usual, with Leon Ashton opening the tent at 12.15pm and AJ Tracey finishing at 5pm, making way for an eclectic line up in the evening, with The Retrobaits, Panjabi MC and Alabama 3 Acoustic all set to play, with Tom Clarke filling the headline slot with an acoustic celebration of 10 years of We’ll Live and Die in These Towns.
Making his return this year is Skatta, a local Coventry performer who has taken to Godiva Festival’s stage twice before, performing in previous years as part of The Society. Having proved his musical mettle, festival-goers can look forward to seeing Skatta performing once more, with the help of a few special guests.
Skatta said: "As everyone knows, I’m a big supporter of Godiva Festival and I’m really looking forward to coming back. I've performed at previous Godiva Festivals as part of The Society and I’m gassed to perform again this year. Coventry has so much local talent when it comes to music so I’m really proud to be representing the city.”
Lee House, Events Manager and Festival Director, said: “We’re really pleased to confirm our urban artists for this year’s Festival. We know that the Rhythm Tent’s offer is always popular and we’re really hoping that everyone enjoys the artists.”
With the Rhythm Tent line up now complete, Godiva Festival’s line up continues to grow, with more names still to be revealed over the weekend, including the rest of Friday night’s Rock Tent, as well as the rest of the Main Stage slots over the three days.
