Coventry's Inter Faith Week launched
Monday 21 November 2011
More than 120 people attended the launch of Coventry's third Inter Faith Week.
This year's events are full of exciting opportunities to learn about different faith communities across the city.
It also provides the chance for people from different faith backgrounds or those people without any religious affiliation to work together to build bridges.
The programme of events was launched by the Lord Mayor of Coventry, Councillor Keiran Mulhall, at the Shree Shree Radha Krishna Cultural Centre in Foleshill.
It was followed by performances by a number of groups and blessings by people representing 10 faith communities in Coventry.
Councillor Mulhall said: "The Inter Faith Week programme provides a wonderful focus for increasing understanding between people.
"The programme has been produced jointly by representatives of local faith communities, Coventry Multi-Faith Forum and Coventry City Council and the programme also includes activities organised by schools."
The Lord Mayor added: "Coventry is a City of Peace & Reconciliation and this programme builds on the good inter faith relations that already exist in the city. It also highlights the contributions that faith has made to building communities in the city."
