Pupils at Howes Primary School have been helping in the preparations for the launch of a new community-led library in Cheylesmore.
Cheylesmore is scheduled to have one of the first community-managed library in the city in September, and Howes Primary School pupils were invited to design the logo for the badges that will be worn by the library volunteers.
More than 100 logos were submitted by the school children, which meant that judges had a difficult task in choosing a winner for the final design.
Joshua Young Rock’s “bookworm” logo was voted the unanimous winner and was presented with a book for his winning logo by a few of the volunteers.
There are over 30 volunteers who will be involved in the library, which will be based at Cheylesmore Community Centre.
As part of renovation work Cheylesmore Library will be closed for about three weeks from Friday11 August to Monday 4 September, to enable building works to take place in the Cheylesmore Community Centre.
All of the children’s logo designs will be put on display once the library is re-opened on 4 September.
If you would like to be a volunteer at Cheylesmore Library please email email@example.com or leave your contact details at Cheylesmore Community Centre or Cheylesmore Library for the attention of Pauline Venable.
