The award-winning musical "Annie" is coming to the Belgrade stage next May and the search is on for children to take part in this spectacular show.
Coventry Musical Theatre Society are going to be staging the show at the Belgrade Theatre, Coventry from 24-26 May 2018.
The society, which has been running for over 100 has staged many musicals in the city, but this is the first time they have ever staged "Annie". Chairman, Terry Bright explains:
"After the success of our recent productions of "Spamalot" and "42nd Street", we decided it would be great to stage a show which could involve and appeal to families across the city. "Annie" provides the perfect vehicle to do just that. We are looking to cast two teams of up to 40 children made up of both girls and boys including two sets of children for the principal roles of Annie and her friends, Molly, Pepper, Duffy, July, Tessie and Kate. Although the girls will play the Orphans, we are also looking for boys to take part in the scenes of "Hooverville" and "NYC"."
Any children between the ages of nine and sixteen (years 4-11 at school) are invited to attend an open audition at Woodside Methodist Church Hall, Woodside Avenue, Coventry on Sunday 24th September at 1.30pm (with registration from 1pm). Some previous experience of dancing and performance is useful but not essential.
Chairman Terry Bright continues:
"This is a chance for children to come along and have a go at auditioning for the show. We will get them to sing together and learn a simple routine with our choreographer. We will then assemble our teams of children on the day and also search for suitable actors for the children's principal roles."
Children should bring a drink and snacks with them and dress comfortably for the auditions. They may be required to stay all afternoon.
