The Deputy Lord Mayor, Councillor John Blundell, officially opened the new library and local school children from Southfields School performed a few songs to mark the occasion.

The move of the Hillfields Community Library into the WATCH centre offers longer library opening hours along with the other WATCH services for residents including employment support, youth projects and Hillz FM.

The Deputy Lord Mayor said: ‘Visitors to this wonderful centre will be able to enjoy a great library service, staffed by friendly, knowledgeable local people – and that means so much to our city and to the people of Hillfields. Visitors will be able to enjoy all the benefits of the new library and those who come to use it will see everything that WATCH can do for them and their families.’
