This year Coventry Libraries organised Book Lovers Vintage Tea Parties at Allesley Park Library and Bell Green Library to mark Older People’s Day.

65 people in total came along to join in the fun, drink tea, talk about their favourite books, and get recommendations for future reads.

Library Development Manager Susan Gray said:

“The atmosphere was fantastic. The staff had all worked really hard to make the day successful, and it was lovely to see so many people coming together socially to celebrate Older People’s Day and talk about the books they love.”

Ceri Brettle - Libraries Advice and Health Information Development Officer said:

“We know that reading is good for wellbeing, but what is really great about events like this is that they add a social aspect to it. Libraries are all about encouraging connections and bringing people together. It really felt like a very fitting way to celebrate Older People’s Day.”
