City councillor revisits her school days

Friday 2 December 2011

Councillor Lynnette Kelly, Cabinet Member (Education) took a trip down memory lane when she joined staff and pupils at Spon Gate Primary School to celebrate their newly refurbished buildings.

The school has been increased from a one form of entry (30 pupils per year group) to a two form of entry (60 pupils per year group) as part of the Primary School Expansion Programme 2012.

Existing buildings on the school's site have been refurbished to accommodate up to 90 pupils across three classes. The existing Site Service Officer's house and an adjoining canopy were also demolished to make way for an external teaching space and wildlife garden.

Councillor Kelly was a pupil at the school in the 1970s and both her parents were teachers at the school some years ago.
