Published Thursday, 24 May 2018

There is a lot to look forward to for schools at Coventry Museums. As well as our fabulous Art, History, Literacy and STEM workshops, there is a fantastic programme of temporary exhibitions.

Celebrate the end of term with a visit to Play! An Exploration of Toys, Games & Fun at the Herbert 30 June – 23 September 2018, which includes RARE From 8-Bit to Xbox, exploring the work of Rare the award-winning and internationally renowned video games company based in Warwickshire.

At Coventry Transport Museum, explore the role that buses have played in our lives and what the future of public transport may look like in Ticket to Ride, 21 July – 28 October 2018.

From autumn 2018 we are excited to be displaying a major work by Cézanne at The Herbert. His masterpiece is on loan from the Courtauld Gallery, London and will feature in our Exploring Paintings though Sketching, Stories in Art, Gallery Highlights or Taster sessions between 22 September 2018 and 20th January 2019.

We also have an exhibition by leading German artist Anselm Kiefer in partnership with the Tate, and an exploration of T.S. Eliot’s famous poem in the show: Journeys with ‘The Waste Land, and its influence on modern and contemporary art.

Later in the year we are celebrating Taxis at Coventry Transport Museum and showing Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2018 at the Herbert.

Travel bursaries are once again available for schools visiting to do two learning sessions before the end of March 2019 (some exclusions apply).

Plus book and visit us for two sessions before the end of December 2018 and your school will automatically be entered into a prize draw to win an all-expenses paid trip to the V&A in London!

Now available, INSET art days at the Herbert for primary schools. Enjoy the outstanding collection of artworks while learning new skills and ideas to take back to the classroom.

Look out for school assemblies giving a flavour of our museums – available from September 2018.

From September 2018 we are introducing a new pricing structure, but are holding this year’s prices for our workshops for bookings made before the end of July.
