Final bow for Star Wednesdays

Tuesday 20 December 2011

Star Wednesdays take their final bow on the open air Fountain Stage in Precinct Cross tomorrow (21 December).

From 4pm, last minute bargain hunters have their last chance to shop along to the sights and sounds of some of the very best local musical talent.

Alongside up and coming and established artists, those wishing to take to the stage themselves get the opportunity to step up under the spotlight as the show kicks off with its customary hour of "open mic".

After five weeks of incredible performances, the live acoustic shows draw to a close with a fantastic line-up of some of Coventry's finest artists including The Jav'lins, Lloyd McGrath and The Anthony Harty All Stars.

Mick McLaughlin, Marketing and Communications Manager, Coventry City Council said: "Star Wednesdays have proven to be a great success and offered the late night shoppers something a little different in the build up to Christmas this year.

"With live performances on the Fountain Stage and free car parking after 4pm in city centre car parks, we hope that people will continue to support the city centre retailers whilst taking in the sounds of Coventry's finest acoustic talent."

Visitors to the city centre this Wednesday can take full advantage of the late night shopping hours and enjoy wandering around the International Market which continues in the city every day up until Christmas Eve. With food, drink and gift ideas from around the world, it's the perfect backdrop to the live music taking place on the stage.
