Coventry City Council’s Switch and Save Scheme returns again, helping residents save money on their energy bills.

Letters from Coventry City Council have been sent out to every home across the city reminding them that the scheme helps residents to see if they can get a better deal for their energy bills.

Switch and Save is open to most households across the city, whether you rent or own your own property. Pre-pay meters also qualify and residents with up to £500 energy debt can still take part.

Councillor Kamran Caan, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Sport, said: “It’s great that we’re able to support residents this way, especially in the run up to winter when the weather gets colder. We’d all like to save a bit of money on our energy bills, and this scheme makes it quick and easy to find out if you can pay less for your energy.

“Even if you’ve registered before or switched with the scheme in the past, it’s worth re-registering to find out if suppliers can offer you a better deal.”

Residents who want to take part need to register by 8 October.

It takes just a few moments to register your details online, using a recent energy bill, preferably an annual statement. From 22 October, you will receive a personal offer from the energy supplier. Then you can decided whether you would like to switch or not, with no obligation to switch if you don’t want to. If you do decide to switch, iChoosr and the energy supplier will make all of the arrangements for you to switch, so you don’t have to do so.

The scheme, run in partnership with iChoosr, works by having energy suppliers compete against each other to offer to best deals to everyone who has registered. The more people that register, the better the offers are likely to be. The supplier with the best deal is selected and registered residents are offered their winning tariff.
