An award-winning author and journalist will present the Lord Mayor’s Annual Peace Lecture in St Mary’s Guildhall next week.
The Lecture is one of the highlights of the city’s Peace Festival and Professor Yasmin Alibhai-Brown will talk on the subject of “Keeping Faith in Just Values in an Age of Populism”.
The Lord Mayor of Coventry, Cllr John Blundell, will host the event from 7pm on Tuesday (13 November).
Professor Alibhai-Brown is a well-known radio and TV broadcaster who has written for many national and international newspapers.
Her awards include the Orwell prize for political writing, National Press Awards Columnist of the Year and The Asian Media Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Media.
The free event will include a question and answer session.
The Peace Lecture is a well-established part of the Coventry Peace Festival and previous speakers have included such notable names as Michael Morpurgo, Canon Paul Oestreicher and Jonathan Porritt.
Doors open at 7pm, with Worldsong entertaining the audience with music until the lecture starts at 7.30pm.
