Free courses for young unemployed people
Monday 30 January 2012
Unemployed people aged between 19 and 24 can take advantage of free courses to help boost their chances of a job in the future.
The training opportunities are being offered by Coventry City Council's Adult Education Service.
It is open to young people who are Not in Employment Education or Training (NEET) and are receiving benefits.
Courses cover a range of topics including the traditional subjects such as maths, English, IT.
Other courses on offer include improving your email and internet skills, internet and shopping safely, working in schools and working with children.
Successful completion of all courses lead to a recognised qualification and the training covers most levels from entry through to more advanced.
The sessions are on offer across the city at various Adult Education venues including Tile Hill, Willenhall, Henley Green, Radford, Cheylesmore and Foleshill.
Councillor Lynnette Kelly, Coventry City Council's Cabinet Member for Libraries and Adult Education, believes the free courses are a wonderful opportunity.
She said: "This is a great chance to gain qualifications and improve your chances of getting a job.
"These courses are open to all but free to people aged between 19 and 24 and unemployed and could make a real difference to someone's future chances."
