Garden for the Games
Run window boxes down your street in red, white and blue. Cheer on a visiting nation with hanging baskets in their colours, or grow a bee friendly meadow like the one in the Olympic Park. We've got plenty of green-fingered ideas to help you and your community get your gardens ready for the London 2012 Games.
Line the Streets
Have you discovered that your house will be on the Torch Relay route?
Details revealed last month showed that people living along Kenpas Highway, Leamington Road and Kenilworth Road up to the War Memorial Park entrance will be lucky enough to be able to see the torch arriving from their front garden! The following day it will leave Coventry via Millennium Place, Broadgate, Earl St, Sky Blue Way, the whole length of Binley Road and onto Brandon Road to the traffic island at Morrisons Supermarket.
So there will be plenty of opportunity to be part of this historic day, and show the world that Coventry can party like no other city! Come out, make some noise, bring out the bunting, dress up and paint your face gold, make Flaming Maracas - instructions on the Local Leaders website!
If you are going to be there, then you can sign up as a local leader at www.london2012/localleaders
The Big Games Quiz
With plenty of memorable moments, fascinating facts and colourful characters, the Olympic and Paralympic Games are the perfect excuse to get quizzing.
If you've always fancied yourself as quizmaster, why not organise your own quiz at home, or a larger event at your students' union or sports club?
The website has a Quizmaster guide that will tell you everything you need to know about running your Big Games Quiz, from the essential rules to tips to make it a truly memorable evening.
They have put together a number of different rounds for you to choose from. The answers are included with the questions - for quizmasters' eyes only of course!
Answer sheets and team handouts are included for each team - be sure to bring some spares.
