Broadgate goes hi-tech with wi-fi

Monday 23 July 2012

Visitors to Coventry's new Broadgate can now surf at their leisure – thanks to free wi-fi available in the area.

Coventry City Council has made the wi-fi available for up to 200 people connecting to the web at the same time in Broadgate and by Holy Trinity Church in the city centre.

Cllr Lindsley Harvard, Cabinet Member for City Services said: "Most people are connected to the internet at home and on the move via their mobile phone and we thought our new Broadgate should offer free access for local people and visitors alike.

"I am pleased we have been able to sort the technical issues and provide free wi-fi across the whole Broadgate area and I hope everyone will enjoy using the internet for free."

Additional security and protection will be provided by a third party web filter (Smoothwall) which will block access to certain inappropriate sites.
