Young people dig in for Canley
Tuesday 7 August 2012
Young people from Canley helped to make a difference to their neighbourhood last week when they took part in activities with the Canley Food Project.
The 14 young people all took part in planting seeds in bedding trays, and raking, watering and removing stones from the ploughed field.
Councillor Lynnette Kelly, cabinet member, City Development said:
"It is great to see these young people taking a real interest in their neighbourhood, community and the area where they live.
Activities like these are really important in bringing local communities together, getting involved and making a positive impact to the whole of the City."
Other community activities planned in Canley include litter picking around Canley Community Centre and clearing around the Canley multi games area.
In return for helping at the community events, the young people will be able to take part in a number of free activities including football led by Sky Blues in the Community and basketball ball by the Coventry Crusaders Foundation. Other activities include martial arts, fishing, cooking, circus skills, breakdancing and swimming.
