Consultation gets underway on sexual entertainment venues
Monday 20 August 2012
Consultation has been launched on a proposal to revise Coventry's policy on sexual entertainment venues.
But the proposal being consulted on is for the city to adopt a zero policy from April 2013.
The 12 week consultation will run until 11 November and Councillor Phil Townshend, Coventry City Council's Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Equalities, is anxious for as many people as possible to take part.
He said: "The idea of the new policy is to ensure residents, organisations and community groups clearly understand how the local authority will determine all forms of adult entertainment in the future.
"But it is important that as many people as possible take part in the consultation so we really understand the views of Coventry people.
"We want to encourage the population of Coventry to give us their views on this issue so that we can make sure we take this into consideration in the New Year when we agree the final policy."
To take part in the consultation and for more details visit www.coventry.gov.uk/consultations.
At the end of the consultation, responses will be collated and analysed before being presented back to councillors in January 2013 with the revised policy in place by April next year.
