Funding boost for community centre
Tuesday 11 September 2012
Residents of Bell Green will be learning activities and socialising in a new modern environment soon as the Bell Green Community Association has been awarded £110,000 to make much needed improvements.
The grants were given by two separate awarding bodies - Sport England which awarded £50,000 and WREN, a not for profit waste recycling company, - which gave £60,000.
Councillor Ed Ruane, cabinet member with responsibility for Neighbourhood Action said:
"This is fantastic news. Community Centres are the hub of communities, being a central point where residents can gather and get involved with what is happening in their neighbourhoods. It's great that the residents of Bell Green will now be able to take advantage of a new improved centre and I look forward to visiting the centre when it is completed."
The funding will be used to replace the floor in the main hall, install energy efficiency lighting, and create a new IT suite as well as other improvements to the building.
