Coventry to Nuneaton rail upgrade

Coventry City Council, together with our promoting partners Warwickshire County Council and Centro, has submitted a £19.2 million bid to the Department for Transport for the upgrade of the existing new rail line between Coventry and Nuneaton.

The Coventry - Nuneaton Rail Upgrade scheme includes a new bay platform at Coventry Railway Station, a new station at Coventry (Ricoh) Arena, a longer platform at Bedworth and a new station at Bermuda Park . This would mean that two carriage trains could run between Nuneaton and Coventry every 30 minutes. On match or major event days trains could run between Coventry and the Ricoh every 15 minutes.

A Best and Final Bid for scheme submitted to the Department for Transport on 9 September 2011, The bid document and supporting information are available to download.

Outline funding approval for the Best and Final Bid was approved in December 2011, by the Department for Transport, and we are continuing to work with our partners to secure outstanding consents i.e. planning permission and aim for final approval in summer 2012.
