West Midlands Technology Network project

Environmental Advice Services has joined a collaborative project with the West Midlands Technology Network (WMTN) to provide eligible SMEs across the greater West Midlands area free environmental assistance.

What help can we offer you?

The WMTN project is part-funded by the European Union with support from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), which enables WMTN and its partners to offer their services to companies for free.

Environmental Advice Services are pleased to join the project to offer free environmental assistance to eligible companies. We can offer company-specific assistance to establish or improve an environmental management system implemented to the requirements of the ISO 14001 standard and improve environmental performance.

Assistance can include:

• Initial environmental reviews to assess performance and capture benchmarking data for the project
• A well-proven 10-step approach to achieving ISO 14001 (the internationally recognised standard for environmental management systems)
• Assistance with internal environmental auditing to the requirements of ISO 14001
• Mentoring of staff regarding environmental legislation and general environmental awareness
• Individually tailored consultancy on company-specific environmental issues

Eligibility criteria

To receive assistance under the WMTN project, companies must: 

• Have fewer than 250 full-time employees
• Have less than €50 million or £35 million turnover
• Have less than €43 million or £30 million balance sheet net worth
• Be less than 25% owned or controlled by a non-SME
• Be in the following counties: Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, West Midlands, Warwickshire or Worcestershire
• Fall within the 'Objective 2' geographical area
• Have received less than €100,000 or circa £60,000 of funding from public sources in the last three years
