Support if you are struggling to afford food

If you are struggling to afford food because your income has been affected or your circumstances have changed, the Coventry Food Network can offer support from community food hubs across the city.

Food hubs can offer the following services:

Foodbank

If you are struggling as a result of COVID-19 and need an urgent referral to a Foodbank please call 08085 834 333

Coventry Foodbank are run by the Trussell Trust. They offer support to local people in crisis. You must have a valid foodbank voucher in order to use this service. If you have not been directly affected by COVID-19 but still need a Foodbank voucher you can contact Coventry Foodbank directly or call 024 7699 3770.

You can also contact your local advice agency. Advice agencies in Coventry who can issue Foodbank vouchers include Coventry Independent Advice Service and Coventry Citizens’ Advice. You can also contact a family hub or your GP.

You will be told the location of your nearest foodbank when issued a voucher, or you can see Foodbank locations on the map below.

Social Supermarkets and Grub Hubs

If you are struggling as a result of COVID-19 and need urgent support, please call 08085 834 333.

Social Supermarkets, also known as Grub Hubs, offer heavily discounted food parcels, typically about £20 worth of food for a cost of a £4 membership.

Social Supermarkets or Grub Hubs do not require you to have a foodbank voucher to access them but may have some criteria to ensure they are helping those who need it most.

Free school meals

Children who are eligible for free school meals may be receiving food on site, through food parcels or the national voucher scheme. Please contact your child’s school directly to ask about access to free school meals.

The government has announced the COVID Summer Food Fund which will mean children who are eligible for free school meals will be supported over the summer holidays. School will be issuing vouchers worth £15 per week before the holidays start for all eligible children.

Donating to Coventry Foodbank

Over 90% of the food distributed by foodbanks in The Trussell Trust network is donated by the public. More than ever the foodbank is reliant on the kind donations of the public to help those in greatest need.
