Course Description

Our Employability offer provides knowledge, experience and practical solutions for young people to develop employability skills and understand employer expectations, alongside addressing attitudinal and behavioural barriers which could hinder their employment prospects.

We are able to tailor courses for specific cohorts to ensure that the material and learning is relatable to individual circumstances and delivered in a person centred way. Change is achieved through peer-led contemporary education, changing language, thinking and beliefs that reinforce and justify helplessness and asking bold questions.

We teach skills and knowledge to:

  • Challenge negative self-perception: Exploring internal voice recognition, ambivalence, procrastination and critical thinking.
  • Build a tailored CV: Teaching learners how to write or adjust their CV to fit with the employer's needs. Understanding an employer’s needs and what makes them tick. Being concise and stimulating interest.
  • Explaining gaps on CVs: Understanding the value of well-written covering letters. Making your experience count: Even negative past experiences are valuable for employers since they demonstrate an attitude for change.
  • SWOT Analysis: Understand how to transfer and reapply skills
  • Job getting not Job Seeking: How to access the hidden jobs market and understanding the importance of routine and job search momentum
  • Being successful at interviews: getting across a good attitude to work and demonstrating you are worth the investment.
  • Your first job: Knowing how to impress in your first month at work. How to manage feeling awkward.
  • Learning on the job: teaching people how to think critically and keep themselves open to change.
  • Upward mobility: It’s not just about keeping a job it’s about learning new skills, experience and progressing. Satisfying the drive to achieve more, gaining experience or reach higher gives people a sense of satisfaction.
