Animal Adaptations

Programme Overview

This programme gives pupils the opportunity to explore different animals and the adaptations that help them live within their environment. Bird costumes are used to illustrate the adaptations of some of the water birds found within the park. Field work sampling techniques will be used to record the variety of animals that can be discovered within the park. Pupils will be given the opportunity compare and contrast the different habitats and the animals that live within them.

Learning Objectives and Aims

• How to use keys to identify local plants and animals • Understand that different animals are found in different habitats• Be able to observe the conditions in a local habitat and make a record of the animals found • That animals are suited to the environment they are found.• To identify different types of habitat• How plants and animals are suited to the environment
