Working at the election

On Thursday 2 May 2019, the city will vote for councillors to represent them on the City Council. 18 out of the 54 seats on the City Council will be up for election. Candidates' details will be published after 4 April, once nominations close.

Elections were held in the Allesley, Keresley and Finham Parish areas to elect Parish Councillors. All three contests were uncontested and therefore all candidates were elected unopposed.

All electors who are currently registered and are eligible to vote should have received a poll card. If you haven't had a poll card, you can contact the elections office helpline to check your registration status. The helpline number is 024 7683 3034.

If you've recently moved or turned 18, you may not be registered. You can register at Unfortunately the deadline to register in time for the 2nd May election has now passed..

Polls will be open on 2 May from 7am - 10pm. If you are unable to attend the polling station, you can apply to vote by post. Alternatively you could apply for a proxy vote.

Key dates for elections on 2 May 2019

  • The deadline for those interested in standing as a candidate is 4pm on 3 April 2019
  • Deadline for new applications to register in time to vote at the above election: Friday 12 April 2019
  • Deadline for submitting applications to vote by post at the above election: Monday 15 April, 5pm
  • Deadline for submitting applications to vote by proxy at the above election: Wednesday 24 April, 5pm
  • Distribution of poll cards will be between 26 March - 7 April

The results will be published online during the count process which takes place overnight on 2 May and the early hours of 3 May.
