Council Tax and Hardship Fund

Anyone who is finding it difficult to pay their Council Tax should contact the Council Tax Team to discuss alternative payment arrangements.

Benefits support

Contact our Benefits team for advice and support if your income has been affected by coronavirus at [email protected], by calling 024 7683 1800, or visiting our Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support page.

Support grants or crisis awards

Find out if you can access a Community Support grant or a Crisis Award. Alternatively, email [email protected] or call 024 7683 3773.

Coventry Law Centre – supporting people with benefits problems

The Coventry Law Centre is providing extra help to the Council to provide advice on benefits issues due to the extraordinary circumstances people are facing due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

The Law Centre has new temporary working arrangements at the moment. These are outlined on the Law Centre website and will be updated as and when necessary.

The Law Centre is running a telephone only reception between 10am and 3pm which can be contacted on 024 7622 3053.

All staff are working from home supporting existing clients over the phone. 

Coventry Independent Advice Service (CIAS) – Supporting people with benefit and debt problems

If you need help and advice from CIAS:

  • Check their self-help page for links to online information resources and details of other services in Coventry.
  • Ask for advice at any time by using their online enquiry form.
  • Telephone for advice on 07923 126426 or 07923 126430. Lines are open 9am to 7pm each weekday (except Wednesday afternoons when lines close at 1pm).
  • Chat using the ‘live chat’ feature on their website.

Coventry Citizens Advice

Offering free, impartial, confidential advice for residents of Coventry, they can be contacted in the following ways:

Support with energy bills

If you are experiencing difficulties paying your energy bills, the Government has agreed measures with energy suppliers to provide support to vulnerable customers.
