Get Free IT help on any subject at Central Library, you can also choose on a date and time that suits you! 

How can I make an appointment?

In person, at Central Library

  • Approach a member of Library staff
  • Give them your name, contact details, your availability and the subject you need help with. E.g. "help with a tablet" or "help with Facebook"
  • A member of staff will then pair you with a Gen2Gen student volunteer. The member of staff will contact you to confirm your appointment at Central Library. 

Over the phone - 024 7683 2314

  • Give the member of Library staff your name, contact details, your availability and the subject you need help with. E.g. "help with a tablet" or "help with Facebook"
  • A member of staff will then pair you with a Gen2Gen student volunteer. The member of staff will contact you to confirm your appointment at Central Library.

Online

  • Submit your name, contact details, your availability and the subject you need help with. E.g. "help with a tablet" or "help with Facebook"
  • A member of staff will then pair you with a Gen2Gen student volunteer. The member of staff will contact you to confirm your appointment at Central Library.

Cisco Networking Academy

Thinking of a career in I.T.? Enrol on Cisco Networking Academy’s new online courses and take the first steps on your path to becoming an IT professional. Study at your own pace, at home or at your local library.  Use your smartphone, tablet or computer, or visit a library to use our computers for free. There's no time limit for completing the work and you can sign up for as many courses as you like. Such as:

  • Entrepreneurship - Learn how to apply network technology skills to start a business or advance your career
  • Get Connected - Aimed at beginners, this course introduces you to basic computer and Internet navigation skills.
  • Introduction to Cybersecurity - Explore the broad topic of cybersecurity in a way that matters to you, both personally and for your IT career.
  • Cybersecurity Essentials - Develop your understanding of cybersecurity and how it relates to information and network security. Build technical and professional skills to pursue careers in cybersecurity.
  • Linux for beginners - A short course covering the basics of Linux software installation and configuration, and introducing the Linux command line.
