Code Club at Jubilee Crescent Library

The Code Club at Jubilee Crescent Library is run by a volunteer (Steve), assisted by a member of library staff (Sarah). The group is further supported by the library services' Digital Media Assistant (Stacey). From September 2019, this Code Club is a Star Club and welcomes anyone who wants to volunteer to run their own Code Club to come along and see how we do it.

The beginner group at Jubilee Crescent Library covers Module 1 (6 projects) and Module 2 (6 projects) of Scratch. The advanced group (due to run from January 2020) at Jubilee Crescent Library covers Module 3 (6 projects) of Scratch, in addition to micro:bit, HTML & CSS and Python tasters (approximately two weeks on each).

If your child has not completed Module 1 and Module 2 of Scratch, they won't be able to sign up to the advanced group at Jubilee Crescent Library as the skills taught in Module 1 & 2 will be needed in Module 3 projects, and the concepts taught are required for coding using other languages such as HTML & CSS and Python. The projects we cover are on the Code Club website. If your child has already done Scratch, then we recommend that your child attends the Coder Dojo or micro:bit at Central Library.

Volunteer to run a Code Club

If you would like a Code Club to run at your local library, please consider becoming a Code Club volunteer. The library service can then support you to deliver the club. Code Club requires a minimum 12-week commitment which covers roughly one school term and you will need to pay for a background check (DBS) to be completed before Code Club or the library service can allow you to volunteer to run a club.
