EU, EEA or Swiss citizens arriving to the UK after 31 December 2020: I was a resident in the UK before 31 December 2020

Citizens from the European Union, the European Economic Area or Switzerland resident in the UK before 31 December 2020 have until 30 June 2021 to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme for either Pre-Settled or Settled Status in order to maintain their legal status as well as their right to stay and work in the UK.

If you were a resident in the UK before 31 December 2020, you are legally not required to present any documentation or evidence of your immigration status (for example, visa, pre-settled or settled status etc.) up until 30 June 2021. However, if you are asked upon entry to the UK within this period you may wish to show your EU Settlement Scheme Unique Application Number or share code. You can create your unique share code on the GOV.uk website - this unique code is generated to each individual and is valid for two months before another needs to be generated.
