If you are not satisfied with the decision, you can discuss your concern with a member of staff in the School Admissions team, change your preferred options or register an appeal to an independent appeal panel. Staff in the School Admissions team will advise you on the steps you need to take to do this.
Schools usually contact parents during the summer term to discuss arrangements for admission in September. In the current circumstances we cannot advise when schools will return to their normal opening, and how they will be setting up arrangements for reception/Y7 starters. Schools will have details of all families whose children have been offered places and they will make contact directly with you as soon as they know what the arrangements will be. They will also update school websites with information.
Can we contact the school directly now we have been offered a place?
The school you have been allocated will contact you directly with information regarding your child starting with them. Many schools are under pressure trying to operate a childcare service for children of keyworkers so please do not contact the schools about your child’s start date unless they specifically ask you to.
If I want to appeal when will my appeal be heard?
You will still need to submit your appeal by the relevant deadline (details on appeal web pages for LA and/or individual schools). The government will be providing advice on any changes to how appeals will be dealt with and we will update the council website with any information. Once you have made an appeal the school/appeals teams will contact you with information about the date and arrangements for your appeal.

School Admissions Policies for 2021/22 are now available to view along with the 2019/20 and 2020/21 policies. Individual school policies can also be viewed on the school web pages direct.
Any person or body who considers that any maintained school or Academy's admissions arrangements are unlawful, or not in compliance with the School Admissions Code or relevant law relating to admissions, can make an objection to the Schools Adjudicator.
*Please note: For September 2020 and 2021 entry a number of schools consulted and agreed on changes to their admissions criteria. Therefore please look through the admissions policies for each school.
