Duty of Care training

All businesses have a duty to ensure that all waste is handled safely and within the law. This is called the 'Duty of Care' and applies to anyone who produces, imports, transports, stores, treats or disposes of controlled waste from business or industry.

Business Sustain provides specific Duty of Care training tailored to your needs to ensure your employees understand what is required by the various waste regulations and ensure everyone works according to the requirements of the regulations.

The Duty of Care training will:

  • Provide you with an overview of the main waste legislation affecting your company
  • Explain what you have to do to comply with this legislation

Duty of Care training covers:

  • Duty of Care Code of Practice overview
  • Applicable waste legislation
  • Controlled waste definition
  • Hazardous waste
  • Storage of waste
  • Waste carriers
  • Keeping waste carriers information up to date
  • Waste disposal and permitting
  • Duty of Care record keeping

All our courses are highly customisable. We can add photos of waste disposal methods on your site and adapt the presentation to reflect your company's procedures and areas of interest. To book please email us: business.sustain@coventry.gov.uk
