Coventry Hospital Education Service box

At the Hospital Education service we believe in providing our learners with a  bespoke curriculum that meets their diverse needs. We believe there is no one size fits all and we will work with our learners and their families to ensure they have a curriculum that seeks to motivate and aspire.

The Hospital Education service recognises that our learners have often faced significant challenges. As a school we work closely with families and other partner organisations across the region to ensure a joined-up approach to achieve the best outcomes for our young people. We believe one of the most valuable gifts we can offer learners in our setting is the experience of education that develops skills of critical thinking, independent thinking and learning within and between specific subject areas.

We instill this love of learning through our assemblies; tutorials; whole class work and interventions, the skills of reading, writing, thinking and discussing individually and collaboratively promote small but significant progress. We prioritise the mental health and well-being of our students in everything we do, offering a nurturing, supportive environment where students can thrive and achieve.

You can find out more information about our service via our HES Curriculum Policy 2023-2024.

Whitmore Park Annexe

Whitmore Park Annexe is a small pupil referral unit which offers a bridge to individuals on home tuition to experience small group tuition in a classroom setting again. This allows students to rediscover social situations and experience classroom routines again.

We offer three distinct curriculum pathways at Whitmore Park Annexe:

  • RESPIRE: a full-time pre-GCSE curriculum offer for KS4
  • INSPIRE: a full-time foundation curriculum offer for year 10
  • ASPIRE: a full-time academic GCSE curriculum offer for year 11

Students are also offered an attractive enrichment programme that includes outdoor education, music, food technology and many more.
