Council Tax privacy notice

Coventry City Council will use the information you have provided for the administration of council tax. The Council is under a duty to protect public funds.

The Council will lawfully share your information when necessary with:

  • Public agencies / government departments to prevent or detect fraud / crime.  This includes participation in the National Fraud Initiative. Find out more about Coventry City Council's data sharing
  • Public agencies / government departments and other organisations as required to support the collection of council tax. 
  • Information is also shared within the Council for the purposes of delivering other Council activities. Where this happens, data sharing agreements are in place to control the use of this data.

Any personal data you have given us will not be passed to third parties for commercial purposes.

You have the right to request that Coventry City Council stops processing your personal data in relation to any Council service. Where possible, the Council will seek to comply with your request but there may be some situations where it will not be able to do this, e.g. where the Council is required to hold or process information to comply with a legal requirement. However, if we do cease processing your personal data, this may cause delays or hinder the Council’s ability to provide you with services.
