Coventry Homefinder

Proposed change - number of refused offers

To reduce the number of refused offers to 3.

What does the current policy say?

The current policy allows people to refuse 5 offers of accommodation before their application is suspended. Customers are notified of this in writing and have 28 days to show that the refusals were reasonable in order for their application to be re-opened. If no contact is made, then the application will be closed.

Why change?

To reduce the time available properties are left unused. When an offer is refused it increases the length of time that social homes are left vacant and delays another household in need being allocated the home. It also causes additional costs to Housing Associations. To enable the Homefinder policy to be closely aligned to the individual Coventry Housing Association policies.
