National Apprenticeship Week

Chris - apprenticeships, training and qualifications

“Blaze a trail” is the theme for National Apprenticeship Week 2019 so I will attempt to slip this phase naturally into this post, see if you can spot it.

Apprenticeships provide a great start in new career, so selecting the right qualification and training provider is important.

The Apprenticeship Team works with managers to match a qualification to a new apprenticeship. Choosing the right qualification ensures that the apprentice gets the most out of their training. We already work well with a range of training providers and continuality look for new training opportunities.

Here at Coventry City Council we have fantastic diversity in our apprenticeships qualifications, including finance, horticulture, graphic design and highways maintenance. The diversity doesn’t stop there, as training for our more common apprenticeships can be tailored to best fit the role. For example, a business administration apprenticeship can be customised for the role to focus on social media marketing if the role demands this knowledge.

Whether you are looking to apply for an apprenticeship yourself, or you are a manager looking to recruit you can have a look at the different types of apprenticeships out there with this A-Z guide. These apprenticeship qualifications are recognised nationally, providing your apprentice the best start to their career.

Apprenticeships are open to school leavers and are designed to be as accessible as possible. Apprentices starting at a Level 2 don’t necessarily need to have formal qualifications to start with so their training provider will support them throughout their apprenticeship to gain these certificates.

Throughout their learning, the training provider supports the apprentice to keep them on track to succeed. Learning can be completed in the work place or at college depending on what is most suitable for the role.

The diversity of training provided for Coventry City Council apprentices is something to be proud of, this will continue as we Blaze a Trail in 2019.
