National Apprenticeship Week

Olga - Payroll and Finance Apprentice

Hello. My name is Olga. I am a Payroll and Finance Apprentice at Coventry City Council. I applied for an Apprentice position as I wanted to be at work whilst still learning and was successfully offered an apprenticeship with Coventry City Council in February 2018. At the same time, I started to study with CIPFA Accountant Assistant Technician Level 3 as a part of the Payroll and Finance apprentice program. On my typical day I input data into a system, answer emails and sent letters to employees.

This time last year I had no idea what the next 12 months would have in store. I must say though…It has been an incredible journey since I became an apprentice! I am very satisfied with the support and supervision I receive both within the team and by my manager, I work with the great people.I look forward to completing my AAT Level 3 in May and progressing on to the next stage.

It is important to think of an apprenticeship as a stepping stone to help push you forward.  You won’t be an apprentice forever, but when you come out of the other side, you will really feel you have achieved so much.
