The GoRun 5K Fun Run, part of the Festival of Running, has reached over 3,000 runners which is fantastic news for the city!
Cllr Kamran Caan, Cabinet Member for Public Health & Sport who will be taking part in the fun run said: "I am delighted to hear that we have gone over the 3,000 runners mark. It's great to see that so many residents of Coventry are coming together for what will be a fantastic event.
"I for one am really excited to take to the start line and take part in this celebration of fitness, fun and community spirit.
"A great year of celebration is to be had for Coventry, so what better time to get involved. I encourage even more people to sign up to the fun run and get Coventry on the move!"
The Festival of Running is accessible to all and the 5K is a great target for any resident regardless of running experience. As a Fun Run, it's less serious than the Half Marathon but no less an achievement, and with runners in fancy dress and team entries from local business and schools it promises for a great atmosphere.
Runners are supporting over 50 charities raising money to support hospices, refugees, mental illness, cancer charities, Alzheimer's, a sensory garden, children's centres, public space defibrillators, youth football, dance, muscular dystrophy, macular degeneration, crisis support, anti-bullying, and much, much more
