Mental Health, wellbeing and libraries SLS training course

As many of us are aware there have been many reports in the media about the rise in mental health issues amongst young people and this is a trend that doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon.

Monday 20 May 1pm – 3.30pm
SLS training room, Central Library

This course will look at how the school library can help support young people in a positive way to help them improve their mental health and well-being. This will include coverage of the following themes:

  • The school library as a sanctuary – the physical space and the atmosphere
  • Autism friendly libraries – how can this be applied to the school library
  • Shelf Help – books that can help support students with problems to help themselves
  • Emotional literacy – how to increase the emotional literacy skills of students
  • Empathy Day – how this can be used within school to promote wellbeing

This course is aimed at both primary and secondary schools and is suitable for school librarians, teachers, SENCOs and teaching assistants.

Cost to SLS subscribing schools is £40.
Cost to non SLS schools is £60.
This cost includes refreshments and all supporting materials.
