Free CPD event at the Herbert for teachers of STEM subjects, with the V&A. Thursday 20 June, 4-7 pm.
Teachers, teaching assistants and trainee teachers specialising in Design and Technology or other STEM subjects are warmly invited to this year’s DesignLab Nation CPD event with the V&A on Thursday 20th June at the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum 4-7 pm.
This will include a workshop with Gemma Latham, the lead designer for the DesignLab Nation project in Coventry, who will be focusing on fast prototyping activities and creative ideas you can use in the classroom to support D&T.
We will also be hearing from teachers involved in the DesignLab Nation programme this year, as well as plans for next year and how your school can get involved.
DesignLab Nation is the V&A’s national schools programme to support the next generation of designers, makers and innovators. The initiative brings together Secondary schools with regional museums and practising designers. Through in-depth design projects, students work on live briefs set by a designer and take inspiration from local design industries and collections from regional museums and the V&A. The programme also provides teachers with training and CPD opportunities to develop innovative ways of teaching design.
Also take the opportunity to learn more about the Coventry & Warwickshire STEM teachers’ network. This group is hosted by cultural venues in the CW10 group* and explores ways to help Secondary STEM teachers develop their skills and knowledge, as well as considering useful ways to share best practice with colleagues.
To book your place please contact Nicky McIntosh, Community & Learning Manager: firstname.lastname@example.org, 024 7623 4271
