Extra help for rough sleepers in hot weather

Published Friday, 28 June 2019

The Council, and Salvation Army have brought in extra measures to help make sure rough sleepers are safe in the hot weather.

Ahead of the heatwave expected this weekend, the Council has made arrangements with The Salvation Army to enact the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol and provide refuge for rough sleepers who would otherwise be exposed to the expected high temperatures.

The rough sleeper provision will be kept open all day on Saturday and Sunday at Harnall Lifehouse in Harnall Lane, if the heat continues.

Water, food, and shelter will be provided over the weekend while the heat persists
