Monday sees the official opening of The Wave’s fitness facilities and Mana Spa.
The £36.7m building opens its doors to the public on Monday 22 July for Lifestyles fitness users and Mana Spa users.
The state-of-the-art fitness suite will boast TechnoGym fitness equipment and technology. The suite has 120 individual stations ranging from free weights to plate-loaded resistance machines.
To go along with this, seventy fitness classes per week will be available - which includes the world-renowned Les Mills - a 25-metre pool dedicated for lane swimming, group exercise studio, indoor group cycling studio and squash courts.
Also, within The Wave’s building is the Mana Spa. The Mana Spa, which is made up of a Herbal Steam Room, Spa Pool, Aromatic Room, Sauna, Foot spa and three treatment rooms, will offer users a diverse range of treatments.
Cllr Kamran Caan, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Sport, said: “I’m delighted that we have an opening date for the first part of The Wave. The Health and Fitness facilities looks absolutely amazing and Mana Spa is a really relaxing space. I’m sure it will all be very popular.
“The kit is state-of-the-art – a bit like the building as a whole with its impressive blue top hat and full height windows which will provide impressive views as people work out!
“Keeping fit is good for people in the same way keeping active is – and at The Wave we will be providing for both. The fitness facilities will suit those that want to get the heart pumping through exercise and the water park will get people active as they have fun. Both are good for the body and the mind.
“This first phase opening is very exciting and it will give people a taste of the quality they can expect of The Wave.
“I’d also remind people who live in Coventry to sign up for their GoCV card so they can ensure they enjoy discounted prices at The Wave.”
The Council has invested £36.7m in The Wave and a further £13.5m in the new 50 metre pool at The Alan Higgs Centre, including a total grant from Sport England of £3m split across the two facilities. Both will open as the city celebrates being European City of Sport.
Paul Breed, Chief Executive for CV Life who will be operating The Wave, said "CV Life is hugely proud to be the operators of the newest health and fitness offer in the city which boasts state of the art equipment and experience.
“The opening of the Health and Fitness Suites and Mana Spa will give a hint as to how amazing the waterpark and the rest of the Wave is going to be.
“The health and Fitness area including the Mana Spa in The Wave provides something for everyone. From fantastic treatments and relaxation, to having a game of squash and a swim. So, visit us and a member of our friendly Lifestyles team will be more than happy to show you around”
Tours of the health and fitness facilities including the spa are also available every day:
