This weekend, BBC Coventry and Warwickshire are holding an event celebrating some of the best and biggest bands to ever play in Coventry.
The event, which is called Cov Fest, will be a virtual celebration which showcases performances by bands who have played in the city. Cov Fest starts this Friday evening and runs until Sunday evening. It will be broadcast exclusively on BBC CWR.
The organisers of Godiva Festival have partnered with BBC CWR to share live recordings of some of the biggest best performances from past Godivas.
Cllr Abdul Salam Khan, Deputy Leader of Coventry City Council and Cabinet Member for Events, said: “As many of you know, Godiva Festival was supposed to take place this weekend. While we are disappointed that the festival won’t be going ahead this year, we are very pleased that it will be represented at Cov Fest.
“Throughout the years, Coventry has been blessed with performances from some truly big bands and it’s only right we celebrate this. Whilst we know that Godiva offers so much more than big bands, looking back at some of the bands we’ve had over the years only showcases how impressive Godiva Festival has been and continues to be”
“So, I encourage everyone to listen in to the show and enjoy it in a safe, socially distanced manner.”
In the meantime, we want to want to hear your memories of previous year’s festival. So, let us know them on Twitter and Facebook by mentioning @Godivafestival.
