Coventry City Council has launched a new grants programme for projects that support the arts and cultural sector in the city today, 10 August 2020.
Organisations are invited to apply with their ideas that will offer more Coventry residents the opportunity to participate in the cultural life of the city.
The fund has a total value of £72,000 and grants ranging from £5,000 to £12,000 will be awarded.
Projects must be primarily for the public delivery of arts and culture activities and enable all members of our community to access and participate in culture. Applications for projects that will reach those who are already under-represented in the cultural life of Coventry will be prioritized, as the city seeks to ensure that cultural inequality is addressed.
Those eligible will be a constituted not-for-profit arts organisation in Coventry that have been trading for at least 12 months with their main purpose established as cultural.
How to apply:
Cllr Tariq Khan, Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities, said: “This is a great opportunity for the Culture sector in Coventry during these difficult times.
“With Coventry set to celebrate a year of culture in 2021, this will be an important way for organisations to get a head start in delivering activities for the residents of Coventry and will add to the fantastic list of culture projects involving local people.
“This funding opportunity will provide the leverage needed to access other funding opportunities such as the recent return of the Arts Council project grants.
“I am particularly pleased to target this fund at areas and groups currently least engaged in Culture in the city. I cannot wait to see some of the ideas that organisations propose to us and the impact they can have on raising participation.”
Deadline for applications is 11 September 2020
