Changes to the Vulnerable Employee Risk Assessment guidance – COVID 19

Published Friday, 06 November 2020

As a result of the national lockdown that started on 5 November, new government guidance has been introduced which affects vulnerable people.

Changes have been made to the definition of Clinically Vulnerable and Clinically Extremely Vulnerable. Because of this the vulnerable employee risk assessment form (VERA) has been updated to reflect the changes.

This means that all employees that have a current VERA in place will need to be reviewed using the VERA template. As the Government advice remains that those who are clinically vulnerable can continue to work we advise that those who have previously been in the “red” category are reviewed first, then those in the “amber” category and finally the “green”. Individual scoring and control measures that have been identified may need to be amended.
