Carers Trust Heart of England are delighted to have once again been awarded the contract by Coventry City Council to deliver the service providing support to young carers in Coventry.

The contract renewal means that they can continue to assist the thousands of young carers in Coventry who are helping look after someone in their family who has a disability, a long-term illness, or is affected by mental ill health or substance misuse.

Life for a young carer can be incredibly challenging as they're often required to help the person they care for with shopping, chores around the house, getting washed and dressed, taking medication, organising appointments and managing money.

The service not only helps young carers get the support and guidance they need but also provides them with respite in the form of exciting group sessions and days out such as trips to Compton Verney and the Trust's Young Carers Takeover Day event.

Claire Dale, the Trust's CEO, expressed her delight with the news, stating, “We feel privileged to be trusted to continue working with and supporting young carers in Coventry and this is testament to the ongoing hard work and dedication of our staff team(s).

“Quite often young carers will work with us for many years and into their adulthood, as their caring role develops. Being able to offer young carers our time, support and opportunities for a break, through recreational activities is an honour and something that we know is incredibly valued by the families who access these services."

Councillor Patricia Seaman, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People added, “Carers Trust Heart of England have done an outstanding job in supporting young carers across Coventry and I’m delighted that they’re able to continue delivering their brilliant service.”

Councillor Mal Mutton - Cabinet Member for Adult Services, echoed those views, concluding, “I’m delighted that Coventry City Council and Carers Trust Heart of England are able to continue working together to deliver the best possible support to young carers. The contract is testament to their tremendous work in delivering what is a vital service to the local community.”
