Dr Lynnette Kelly has been elected as the new councillor for Earlsdon ward after winning the by-election last night.
The contest was triggered following the resignation of former Labour councillor Becky Gittins, who stood down in September this year to concentrate on standing as a parliamentary candidate in Clwyd East at the next general election.
Cllr Kelly, who has previously served as a city councillor for a combined 16 years in Henley and Sherbourne wards, secured 43 per cent of the vote. Turn-out was 27 per cent.
In her acceptance speech, Cllr Kelly thanked Earlsdon residents for the confidence they had shown in voting for her and said she looked forward to serving them in the future.
