Coventry City Council has launched a number of new grant funding support programmes for businesses in the city.

The grant programmes have been set up after the Council successfully applied for funding from the UK Government's Shared Prosperity fund.

This new package of support replaces the Green Business and Business Support Programmes that were funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). By replacing these grants, the Council continues to encourage growth amongst the city's business community.

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) can apply for general business grants, worth between £2,500 - £25,000, as part of the programme. The grants can be used in a flexible manner, supporting businesses with everything from expansion to staffing costs.

More targeted programmes are also on offer, with the Decarbonisation Net Zero Programme offering businesses the opportunity to apply for grants ranging from £1,000 and £100,000 to help them achieve their net zero aims.

In addition to receiving these grants, the SMEs will receive wraparound support from the Council with officers on hand to offer valuable guidance on important topics such as such as management and personnel, growth strategies, energy efficiency, and sustainability.

Cllr Jim O'Boyle, Cabinet Member for Jobs, Regeneration and Climate Change, said: "Coventry is a city full of innovative businesses and we want to do all we can to ensure that they have opportunities to grow, protect and create jobs and also to thrive sustainably.

"In the past six years, businesses across our city have received over 15 million pounds from the ERDF funded grant programmes and that money has helped to create over 1,000 new jobs. That's essential and really important support which we could not let disappear without replacing.

"That's why I'm pleased that we've been able to launch these programmes. I would encourage anyone who thinks their business might be eligible to visit our website to see what support is on offer."
