Social care and health organisations are being reminded that they must follow a set process when trying to source PPE.
Organisations around the city are working to protect residents and are in need of essential equipment, including gloves, masks, aprons and disinfectant.
The best way to secure this equipment and keep workers and residents safe is to follow national guidance.
As a member of the West Midlands and Warwickshire Local Resilience Forum (LRF), the City Council only holds a limited supply of PPE to use on an emergency basis to support high priority social care and health organisations who do not have access to their usual NHS supply.
Unfortunately, we are not able to support all organisations in the city who may require PPE.
If you are an eligible health and social care provider you can order PPE through the DHSC PPE portal to meet the increased need that has arisen as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The PPE portal can be used by:
If you’re a provider in one of these categories, your invitation to register will have been sent to your email account registered with Care Quality Commission (CQC), NHS Business Services Authority (BSA), NHS England or the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).
You can only log in and place an order if you’ve received an email invitation to register.
How to order COVID-19 personal protective equipment (PPE) and the quantities available. You can also call 0800 8766802 if you have any questions on using the PPE Portal.
If you cannot get PPE through any other route and have run out or will do so imminently, contact the National Supply Disruption Response (NSDR) on 0800 915 9964.
All eligible providers should register with the PPE Portal and access PPE through this channel or use their usual supply routes.
If you have been unsuccessful using the channels mentioned above then you can complete the PPE Request form and e-mail it to: [email protected].
We are currently prioritising requests from social care settings.
Other supply options for emergency PPE are listed on the West Midlands Combined Authority website.
Also, the PPE exchange is a website that connects people and organisations that require PPE with suppliers of PPE.
Please obtain specialist advice from Public Health England or other reputable source before purchasing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) from suppliers and remember that you are responsible for ensuring that PPE is safe to use to protect you and any staff members. You use PPE entirely at your own risk.
Coventry City Council has not vetted or approved any supplier listed on this page or those on www.ppexchange.co.uk or via the WMCA and disclaims any liability in connection with your use of any of the suppliers of PPE listed, or accessed as a result of information provided above and/ or any contracts entered into with suppliers as a result of the use of information contained above.
